In Your Dreams
“A dream is a theatre in which the dreamer Himself is the scene, the player, the producer, the author, the public and the critic.” -Carl Jung
Why are dreams so important? Dreams are our chance to eavesdrop on a conversation between our unconscious and conscious minds, offering us opportunities to understand ourselves better and achieve greater inner harmony. We can learn how to reveal the special personal meaning of our dream and how to make them more vivid. We can ask our unconscious mind to help us solve a practical problems and to show us a way forward in times of personal difficulty. We can even teach ourselves to lucid dream which means to take control of our dreams. Dreams are an integral part of our mental life, and can show us how we can work with them to gain vital self-understanding. Because dreaming is an essentially visual activity, the illustrations are designed as a further tool to create richness and color in your experience.
Remembering your dreams:
The truth is that we all have dreams almost every evening as we sleep, and surprisingly many people claim to never dream. The main reason we forget out dreams is because we do not regard them as important. The transfer of material from the unconscious world of sleep to conscious, waking life is delicate process. As soon as we start wanting to remember our dreams, we are on the road to succeeding.
Another psychological obstacle to remembering our dreams is that we may have been conditioned to repress them. Repression is a natural defense mechanism, protecting us against memories, desires or fears too painful or disturbing to be allowed into consciousness. Such material may be linked to early traumas or thoughts and behaviors that we have been taught that made us feel bad or unloved. All of these fears are old definitions that someone or something told you as a child. “Nothing has any meaning until you give it meaning.” There may be a deep-seated unconscious reason why you forget what you have dreamed or perhaps you dislike your dream self or maybe you fear the power of unpleasant dreams. You might feel that simply that it is fanciful or self-indulgent to be interested in dreams or that paying too much attention to them may render you less effective in waking life.
Dreams can be the most magical intuitive gift we have. It is important to understand your dreams and use them to your advantage in every day life.
Tell yourself that your dreams are helpful and that you will begin to remember them; make an effort to welcome what your dreams can teach you about yourself and keep in mind the power of dreams to help you to become a more fulfilled, effective person.
Tapping into your Divine Intuition:
Dreaming is a part of our thinking and feeling minds. We can use dreams to heal and nurture parts of our lives. We can use these messages to solve our problems and guide us to make positive choices for ourselves in the future... Most of the time we ignore that intuitive nudge, that feeling you get deep inside your belly that is telling you what to do. STOP and listen to that little message. That is your Divine intuition telling you what to do. Half of the time we are so busy that we don’t take the time to just listen. When we have a thought or a dream that is disturbing to us, we ignore it or brush it under the table. What if that thought or dream is your true inner guidance that is directing you towards Greatness. This is just another gift that is within ourselves that can give us wonderful GUIDANCE and PEACE. Don’t be afraid to use your gifts to help other people as well. Listen to yourself. Journal your dreams. Start to make a valid effort to really get to know you and how your glorious mind and intuition really operate.
DREAMS ARE POWERFUL
HOLD ON TO YOUR DREAM
Many times we know exactly what a dream, thought or image meant and what the message was, but we choose to ignore it. This is your LIFE and YOU can choose to USE your GIFTS or not. But, why not try… Dream memories are often distorted by the conscious mind. The mind recalls dream details but changes them, often without realizing it, to avoid anything that is considered unwelcome. We progressively forget or alter some of the most reveling aspects of our dreams as time elapse after our initial recall, so we need to record our dreams, without censorship of any kind, as soon as possible.
Keep a Dream Diary
Use whatever methods to help you remember your dreams but a dream diary is essential. Keep a pen and notebook by your pillow, and write in it a soon as you wake. (The Flaming Hearts desire Journal would be perfect).
Each morning. Make as little other physical movement a possible-even turning over in bed can banish dream memories. This is a great time to take a few minutes for yourself and organize your thoughts. Don’t delay your writing until later because even the most vivid dreams quickly fade or become distorted in detail.
There are many different ways of keeping a dream diary. Some writers suggest having separate columns for events, characters, colors and emotion by cauterizing memories during recall can be another way of losing them. The best method is to write down the dream and then analyze and categorize it at your leisure. Write your dreams on the left hand side of the page in the book and keep the right hand blank for interpretations, comments, sketches and subsequent analysis. Make sure that each entry is dated and that as much detail as possible is recorded-as you piece together an interpretation, it is sometimes the most apparently insignificant aspect of a dream that turns out to be most revealing. Always write in the present tense: Remember you are a creator. Why not use your dreams to help you create your Hearts Desire.
Learning how to control your DREAMS...
“A dream is just a dream until you bring it to Life”
Techniques for controlling dream content is virtually universal but techniques for doing so have been known and practiced from ancient times and across many cultures. It may seem surprising to learn that we can control the activities of our sleeping minds but we have already seen that we can greatly enhance our ability to remember your dreams. The next step is to influence them to go the way we want. As well as asking dreams to provide us with fascinating adventures and wonderful imagery, we can stimulate dreams that increase our self knowledge and show the way to inner harmony.
If we learn to control the content of our dreams, we immediately make them more relevant to our lives. We can ask them to help us solve problems and cross-examine them to bring meaning to our life.
It is important to go to sleep with a clear relaxed mind and a clear intention of what message we want to receive in our dreams. Breath deeply and say a prayer asking for guidance and clarity. Go to sleep with the intention to sleep peacefully and soundly.
DREAM EXERCISE:
Morphing the Apple
In your dreams, objects sometimes transform themselves in complex and bizarre ways that can reveal a symbolic meaning. This exercise is designed to help the visual imagination to become more nimble, breaking down tyranny of fixed forms.
- Focus on a red apple, carefully visualize it and hold it's image clearly in your mind. Mentally change its color from red to green and back again. Do this several times.
- Now visualize the apple decaying, becoming wizened and finally rotten, next, reverse the process and watch as the apple grows younger again. See it become fresh again and go back through its stages of growth until it ends up as a bud. Bring the apple back to its original state, visiting all the stages again. Open your eyes and see how close your visualization remains to the original.
- Close your eyes and visualize the apple again. This time, transform it into an orange, the orange into a pear back into an apple. Now change it by stage into a tennis ball and then a crystal ball.
- Try a similar exercise with the human face and body, changing the image from youth to age, male to female. Visualize change of costumes and expression.
- Say to yourself that the place where images” exist is as much in your mind as in the outside world. Feel confident in your ability to control and transform what you see and dream
These exercises will give you more creative juice to transform everything in your life. If you believe you can do it in your dreams, you are just steps away from making it happen in your every day reality. Have Fun with this. Use your Mind. Create Magic.
Learning to FLY: Dream exercise 2
This exercise will help your conscious awareness that we cannot fly, and so encourage flying dreams, this visualization exercise starts off by identifying with animals and object that can free themselves from gravity.
- During the day, make a point of looking for objects. Follow the flight of birds with your eyes: tell yourself that you too can fly, in the same way, in dreams.
- Imagine what a bird can see, and that you are looking down on the countryside through it eyes. Impress upon yourself that you can experience this bird’s-eye view” in reality” while dreaming.
- Release a feather, a petal, a flying seed, a balloon or kite into the wing, and follow its progress. Remind yourself that if you can send such items into the air in this world, you can send yourself there in the dream world.
- Imagine your body becoming lighter, feeling less and less of your weight being taken by the ground when dreaming your body will be able to rise effortlessly into the air.
- Before going to sleep, remember all the experiences with you and to relive them in your dreams.
“Fly as high as the sky. If you reach for the MOON, you will at least hit the STARS”
